How To Stay Motivated When You Feel Like Quitting

by Regina Fasold | Nov 5, 2021 | Life Coaching | 0 comments

Feel Like Quitting

We’ve all been there. We’ve all had a moment where we felt like quitting. Where we felt like giving up. That is often a do or die moment. Sometimes we push through and accomplish our goals. Other times our goals are forgotten and fall off of our calendars. So how do we stay motivated when we feel like quitting? How do we push through feeling uncomfortable? How do we keep from quitting when the pressure is high? These are all reasonable questions. It comes down to being able to control your emotions. Let’s take a closer look.

Remember That You Are In Control Of Your Thoughts and Emotions

You have to remember that nobody else controls your thoughts and emotions. It’s only you. You get to make the choice about how you are going to react when things go wrong. You get to choose how to react when things go right. Stop being overwhelmed by your emotions. Start considering them instead. Observe how you feel. You don’t have to feel so intensely. When you are feeling emotional, calm yourself down with deep breathing. And remember never to make a decision when you are feeling upset!

Your Feelings Are Temporary

Feelings are fleeting. They are temporary. You aren’t going to feel upset forever. That is part of why it is so important that you don’t make decisions when you are upset. Know that when you don’t feel motivated, when you feel like quitting, you aren’t going to feel like that forever. There is going to be a point where you actually feel like pushing through. Where you feel like giving it your all. When you feel ready to take on the world. So don’t quit when you are at a low point. Things change. Situations change. Feelings change.

You Will Be Proud Once You Finish Your Project

Once you finish what you are working on, you are going to be extremely proud. You are going to feel happy with yourself. You are going to be glad that you didn’t quit. And even if those feelings of pride may be fleeting too, you are always going to be able to list an accomplishment. You will always be able to say you finished that project, that work, that job. And when times are tough in the future, you’ll be able to look back on it and see what you’ve accomplished and overcome.

Stay Motivated

At the day, we have to remember that we are in control of our thoughts and emotions. No one else is. No one else can fight those battles for us. We have to determine whether we want to quit, or whether we want to keep working. But remember that feelings and emotions are temporary. The feelings you feel now won’t be the feelings you feel tomorrow. You can change how you feel. You are in charge of your reality. But most of all know that you can be proud once you finish a project you didn’t quit on. You’ll have something to look back on as a positive experience, even if it was difficult.
